THE ‘CORPS DE GARDE’

Built on the edge of the bay of St GERMAIN sur AY, this small but strong building was called ‘corps de garde’ or ‘cabane VAUBAN’.

Many of them were built along the sea from the bay of ‘le mont St michel’ to St Vaast la Hougue. Soldiers were to give the alarm in case of a British invasion. Nowdays, the ‘corp de garde’ of St GERMAIN sur AY is used as a chapel. .
